# Powering the Rift

The Rift is powered by a mysterious energy which emanates from large piles of [$GP Token](/wizards-and-dragons-game/game-assets/gp-token.md).

Tower guards must cooperate to stake at least 42,069,696.9 GP *in total* to enable *each* bridge direction. The bridge will remain enabled unless the total staked GP falls below the minimum.
